2007 Spring Bang Wei

Yesterday we had a very good class, as one of my younger kung fu brothers and good long time friend was promoted to yellow sash which is the second rank in our ranking system. After about two years training with us he finally got it, and it was well deserved. I feel very proud of him as our school is very strict on giving any rank promotions. We are only a few, but we train hard, and many don't stick around for long.
So when I got home I wanted to drink some good relaxing tea, to contemplate my own past training.

I bring out the last chunk I have of the 2007 Bang Wei sample I had got from Tea Urchin a few months back. I remember it being a very mellow relaxing tea. I start to brew and I cant help but delve into the wonderful aroma the infusions give. This is the kind of tea I like, at least at this precise moment it is perfect. Very mellow straw, orchid, honey sweet taste.
It is on the delicate side of shengs, really asking for some attention.

The liquor is very light and clear and stays true to its sweet mellow flavors for the majority of the brews.
A very relaxing tea, with a good sweet flavor. Almost reminding me of dancong oolong but much tastier.
The spent leaves are very appealing even though some are a bit dark.

It really takes me to a relaxing state of mind as I remember my initial training. I was 19 when I started my Kung fu journey, little did I know how much I would love it. It is an art of being.
It is part of me.
Its funny how my Dad's hometown in Mexico knows me as the Karateca.

The sashes I have used over the years.

I have been passing on my kung fu to my son, he really seems to like it.
I hope he sticks it out.
